"The Party's Over"

THE PARTY'S OVER - A Wake Up Call to All Politicians

"The time has come,' the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes -- and ships -- and sealing wax --
Of cabbages -- and kings --
And why the sea is boiling hot --
And whether pigs have wings."

"Is perception reality?' the Cosmic Jester asked,
"Or is all a cosmic joke?:
Of voters -- and elected -- and fated destiny --
Of congressmen -- and presidents --
And why the ceiling debt has damned us all --
And whether the U.S. credit rating will continue to fall."

THE PARTY'S OVER - A Wake Up Call to All Politicians

Unemployment is 9.2% nationwide?  It's over 12% in California with some cities in the nation experiencing over 25% unemployment.  The American voter can only be unhappy.  Try the following statistics on the mathematical side of the brain and draw your own conclusions.

Why S&P downgraded? the US credit rating.

• U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000?,000,000
• Fed budget: $3,820,000?,000,000
• New debt: $ 1,650,000,?000,000
• National debt: $14,271,00?0,000,000
• Recent budget cut: $ 38,500,000?,000

Now let's remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget.

• Annual family income: $21,700
• Money the family spent: $38,200
• New debt on the credit card: $16,500
• Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
• Total budget cuts: $385

In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinborough, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.  A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.  From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years.  During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University of Law in  St. Paul Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Obama: 19
Number of States won by: McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000
Square miles of land won by: McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million
Population of counties won by: McCain: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's - and they vote - then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

Notes: The Chinese history of governing cycles of 300 years then 100 years for 2000 years of history is briefly described as 100 years of war and turmoil and the rise of a new government that became corrupt and decadent and easy pickens for the next conquerors at the end of a 300 year reign.  Of course, the rise and fall of the Roman empire is better known to most historians.

"THE PARTY'S OVER"
Words by Betty Comden and Adolph Green
Music by Jule Styne
Introduced by Judy Holliday in her last film "Bells Are Ringing" (1956).

The Party's Over, it's time to call it a day.
They've burst your pretty balloon and taken the moon away.

It's time to wind up the masquerade.
Just make your mind up the piper must be paid.

The Party's Over.The candles ficker and dim.
You danced and dreamed through the night,
It seemed to be right just being with him.

Now you must wake up, all dreams must end.
Take off your make up, The Party's Over.
It's all over, my friend.
